“Legal Elite” Nods for David Beatty, Shawna Lemon and Julie Richardson
Myers Bigel Sibley & Sajovec, P.A. (Myers Bigel) is proud to announce that several members of its talented legal team have been recognized for their skills and expertise.
David Beatty, an attorney in the firm’s Mechanical practice group, has been selected by his peers as the Business Law category winner of Business North Carolina magazine’s annual “Legal Elite” listing of the state’s top lawyers along with Shawna Lemon and Julie Richardson who were also named to the list in the Intellectual Property category.
“David, Shawna and Julie are prime examples of our attorneys being heavily engaged in improving their work and contributing to a supportive environment for our clients and for one another,” David Purks, Myers Bigel managing partner, said.
According to Purks, the extraordinarily low turnover of attorneys at Myers Bigel allows clients to work with the same attorney familiar with their specific technology or science and individual business throughout the full length of the patent development, filing and grant process. Without needing to re-learn the technology or business specifics, the firm’s attorneys can focus on quality to ensure development of a strong patent that can be successfully enforced in court.
Beatty, Richardson, and Lemon received positive peer recognition, as Legal Elite winners are chosen by members of the N.C. State Bar living in North Carolina. Ballots sent out by Business North Carolina ask attorneys for nominations of individuals whose work they have observed firsthand, and who they would rate among the current best in selected categories.
Other Myers Bigel attorneys having been named to past Legal Elite lists include D. Randal Ayers, Mitch Bigel, James Cannon, Robert Crouse, Laura Kelley, James Myers, F. Michael Sajovec and Kenneth Sibley.
“The quality of life and low cost of living in the Research Triangle region enables us to attract and keep some of the best legal talent in the country, while keeping overhead costs much lower than firms located in expensive major metropolitan areas,” Mitch Bigel, one of the firm’s founding partners, said.
“As a result, our clients have access to a stable group of experienced lawyers producing and enforcing top-quality patents, with billing rates dramatically lower than revolving-door competitors in D.C, New York, or Boston and well below the national average,” he added.
Bigel pointed out that some longtime attorneys at Myers Bigel with over 20 years quality experience feature billing rates equal with that of an inexperienced associate at larger big city firms, with proven patent law work that stacks up against any law firm in the country.
Myers Bigel is dedicated to providing clients with the fullest protection possible for their intellectual property issues, with attorneys well-versed in prosecution and litigation to enforce or defend patent, trademark, copyright and trademarks. Operating out of the Research Triangle Park area of North Carolina, Myers Bigel represents corporate and university clients located in the Carolinas, throughout the Southeast, across the United States, and in Europe and Asia.
