JACOB GOLAN JOINS MYERS BIGEL

Myers Bigel is pleased to announce Jacob Golan has joined the firm’s award-winning legal team.

Jacob Golan earned his B.S., cum laude, in Biology and Geology from Duke University, where he received The Excellence in Plant Science Prize; and his Ph.D. in Fungal Biology, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow focusing on genome evolution and the biophysics of microbial disease spread. Jacob went on to earn his J.D. from New York University, serving as Editor-in-Chief for the university’s Journal of Intellectual Property & Entertainment Law. Before joining Myers Bigel, Jacob worked as an Associate for Knobbe Martens and a Patent Scientist for the USDA Forest Service.

His practice encompasses biopolymers, immunotherapies, plant varieties, transgenic organisms, medical devices, and sequencing platforms. Additionally, he engages in pro bono work supporting Indigenous Peoples’ rights related to intellectual property, advising leaders on safeguarding genetic resources and digital sequence information (DSI).

Jacob joins a team of attorneys and patent agents emphasizing patent procurement in practice areas including electronics/computer, mechanical, trademark, chemical and biotechnology. The firm’s experience with domestic and international patents is vast, having successfully filed in practically every country in the world, drafting quality patents that cover the full scope of an invention and stand up to courtroom challenges.
